You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers!

1. (question about welding a broken tooth on a cordwood saw (aka buzz saw) )

Do NOT even contemplate doing this. Even assuming you could do this, make it
structurally sound, and rebalance the saw blade, there’s no chance that the
heat involved in welding wouldn’t warp the saw plate. This means anything from
excessive vibration to failure to cut straight to complete structural failure
of the blade.

2. (question about which is better, Disston, Simonds, or Atkins)

It wasn’t specified but I’m going to assume this question refers to handsaws.
All three were major players in the handsaw market and I don’t think there’s
any way to make a statement that one is better. I will note that there are far
more Disston labeled saws around than Atkins or Simonds labeled ones. The
reason for this is that Atkins put out a much higher percentage of their saws
as OEM saws, marked for their customer (hardware chains, etc) and Simonds only
made handsaws for 25 years. I really havn’t found a whole lot of difference
in them overall.

3. (question about a one man felling saw)

To the best of my knowledge, no saw manufacturer ever made a one man felling saw.
One man saws are always bucking crosscut saws.
